Scholarly Publication – An article written by experts in their field. These articles share the results of original research or analysis with other researchers and students. These articles often go through a process known as peer review where the article is reviewed by a group of experts in the field.
Special Collections – Valuable books that are non-circulating (in-library use only). CBU Library has several special collections which include:
Subject Guide – These are webpages developed by librarians that focus on specific subject areas. Subject Guides allow you to find relevant database, books, journals, links to other sources, etc. that are specific to your course. You can find Subject Guides here.
Subject Heading – A word or group of words used to describe the content of a book. When books are added to a library's catalogue they are assigned specific subject headings. Using subject headings to search for books enables you to retrieve all the items about a given topic.
Stacks – The stacks are the part of the library which houses the physical collection. This is where you will find books, journals, CD’s, etc. The stacks are located on the second floor of the library.
Thesaurus – A book of words or of information about a particular field or set of concepts. It is essentially a book of synonyms.
Thesis – A thesis is an extensive scholarly essay, submitted as part of the requirements for an advanced degree. CBU student theses are stored in our institutional repository, CBU Scholar.
