IndexAn alphabetical list of names, subjects, etc., with references to the places where they occur in the text. The index is usually found at the end of a book.

In-Transit – This is a code used in item records to show the status of an item. This code is used when items are being sent from one location to another.

Interlibrary Loan or Document DeliveryThe ability to borrow items (books, journals, etc.) from other libraries within the province and across the country. Information about Interlibrary Loan or Document Delivery can be found here.

International Standard Book Number (ISBN)A unique number assigned to a book by a publisher (think of it like a book’s social insurance number).

International Standard Serial Number (ISSN)A unique number assigned by a publisher to a serial, journal, magazine, etc. 

Institutional Repository or Repository – An institutional repository is an archive for collecting and preserving digital copies of the intellectual output (books, articles, theses, etc.) of an institution, particularly a research institution. CBU Scholar is the name of CBU's institutional repository and it houses works written and published by CBU faculty, staff and students.

 

J

JournalA publication such as a magazine that is issued at regular intervals containing articles and scholarly research.

Journal TitleA name of a specific journal.
