Library Policies

Cape Breton University (CBU) Library’s Contactless Curbside Pick-up Program and Mail Service provides access to our physical general collection to current faculty, staff, students, and Community Borrowers. Our goal is to ensure those who need information resources for teaching, study, and research are able, in a modified way, to access the resources (books, periodicals, DVDs) of the CBU Library.

This program is subject to change dependent on Nova Scotia COVID-19 health restriction updates.

CBU Library items requested via Novanet Express or ILL may be picked up:

  • at CBU Library rear entrance (Curbside Pickup).
  • at the Circulation Desk
  • mailed to any location within Canada.

Please Note:

  • Curbside pickup will not be available for reserve items such as textbooks, calculators, etc.
  • A recall can be requested on a book that is borrowed on a term loan by a faculty/staff member or student, as long as the book has passed the twenty-first day of the loan period. The Library reserves the right to recall a book at any time during its loan period. A recalled item is due 10 days after notification is sent of the recall.
  • Curbside pickup is available for CBU items, Novanet Express items, and Interlibrary Loan items.

How to request:

1. Login to My Library Account and place a hold request on your desired item. You will receive an automatic email when it is ready for pickup.

3. CBU Library items requested via Novanet Express or ILL may be picked up:
