Library Policies

Cape Breton University (CBU) Library’s Contactless Curbside Pick-up Pilot Program provides access to our physical general collection to current faculty, staff and students.  Our goal is to ensure those who need information resources for teaching, study, and research are able, in a modified way, to access the resources (books, periodicals, DVDs) of the CBU Library.

This program is subject to change dependent on Nova Scotia COVID-19 health restriction updates. The program will also be evaluated during the summer semester to address information needs in the future.

Please Note:

  • All items have a return date of Sept 30, 2020 unless otherwise stated
  • Curbside pickup will not be available for reserve items including laptops, textbooks, etc.
  • A recall can be requested on a book that is borrowed on a term loan by a faculty/staff member or student, as long as the book has passed the twenty-first day of the loan period. The Library reserves the right to recall a book at any time during its loan period. A recalled item is due 10 days after notification is sent of the recall.
  • Curbside pickup is only available for items at CBU. Items at partner Novanet Libraries are not available.

How to request:

1. Complete the form.

2. You will receive an email to confirm a pick-up time, location, and other instructions.

  • Pick-up times are Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, between 1-3 pm.
  • We will be using the Library Staff Entrance (map in email)
  • A sign on the door will indicate the phone number to call upon arrival for pickup.
  • Please show your library card (ID card) through the glass window of the door, then step back behind the painted line while library staff place your item(s) in the bin outside the door.
  • Once staff are back inside the library, please remove your items from the bin.
  • To return items, use the library drop-off inside CBU, close to security. You will need to stop at the security desk on your way into the building.
