Guide for familiarizing distance students to the library and access.

Distance Students: Registering with the Library

As a Cape Breton University student you can access online resources using your email and email password, by using the 'off campus sign in' link below. Students must be registered with the library in order to check out books, place holds, or place an Interlibrary loan. You should receive a library card by mail, 3 weeks after registering for your classes. Distance students who did not receive a card may contact Patrick Hanratty to obtain one.

If you would like to use the library's electronic databases and resources, login here by using your email and email password. You do not need a library barcode.

Birth date, entered as yymmdd

Catalogue (Novanet) sign in

In order to sign in Novanet (Click Guest to find SIGN IN on the top right of the search page), use the instructions below. This allows you to check out books, place holds, renew books and place interlibrary loans.

Barcode on CBU ID

Last 4 digits of phone number

e.g.,
