If you're searching for information on a particular topic, a recommended search strategy is:

  1. Start with a keyword search, using words/phrases that describe your topic
  2. If wanting books only, limit your search to "Books" (see: Resource Type on left of screen)
  3. Browse the results; choose 2 or 3 titles that seem relevant
  4. Click the title to view the Subject field; you can either click a subject to begin a new search or make note of subjects - and -
  5. Redo your search using those terms

Discoveries, such as Novanet, can return thousands of results.  Use filters located to the left of the screen to limit to:

  • Availability (select Full Text Online for e-books, etc.)
  • Resource Type (articles, books, conference proceedings, etc.)
  • Library (Cape Breton University)
  • Creation (publication) date
  • Subject
  • and more
